USO Perform at Catch A Fire
In 2012, USO worked on an exciting project for the 50th anniversary of Jamaican independence. Along with the Jazz Jamaican All Stars and special guest Brinsley Forde (lead singer of Aswad), USO performed a new orchestral interpretation of Bob Marley and the Wailers’ groundbreaking and iconic album Catch A Fire. The show toured across the UK from October to November at major venues including the Southbank Centre, and was the centerpiece of the Lively Up! Festival.
Had an incredible rehearsal today with Jazz Jamaica, Urban Soul Orchestra and Brinsley Forde at Southbank Centre ahead of our Catch A Fire tour. Today was the first time we'd rehearsed with the strings section. Awesome! Everybody stepped up a level hearing the music played so large - 30 musicians - and we're also adding choirs on several of the shows. Even more awesome!

The show returned in 2013 to the Southbank Centre for an epic encore to the critically acclaimed 2012 tour, which was reviewd by the likes of the Financial Times. A particular highlight of the show, captured for posterity and available on our YouTube Channel, sees violinists Stephen Hussey & Miles Brett engage in a spirited violin duel during Stir It Up.
