Acoustic Ensemble
Strings with Rhythm
The Acoustic Ensemble combines live strings with percussion and double bass, bringing warmth, rhythm and movement while remaining entirely acoustic. With no backing tracks, every element of the performance is created live.
Saxophone or flute can be added to expand the sound, with the option of a vocalist for occasions that call for a more prominent musical presence.
With more than three hours of repertoire spanning classical music, pop, soul and reggae, the set can move naturally with the atmosphere of the event. Arranged and directed by Stephen Hussey.
The Line-Up
The Acoustic Ensemble is available in four core line-ups, each performed entirely acoustically.
- 6-piece: string quartet, percussion, double bass
- 7-piece: string quartet, percussion, double bass, sax or flute
- 11-piece: string octet, percussion, double bass, sax or flute
- 12-piece: string octet, two percussionists, double bass, sax or flute
Up to 3 × 45-minute sets. A vocalist can be added to any configuration, with bespoke line-ups also available on request.
The Occasions
The Acoustic Ensemble is particularly suited to drinks receptions, dinner, garden and outdoor celebrations, corporate hospitality, galleries and showroom events, occasions where live music should create atmosphere without overwhelming the space.
Its particular strength is scale without amplification. With larger line-ups of eleven or twelve musicians, the ensemble can fill a substantial space acoustically, making it especially well suited to historic buildings, marquees, gardens and venues with strict sound restrictions.
For events that continue into the evening, the line-up can form part of a wider musical programme, moving naturally into one of our larger bands or DJ sets later in the day.

Throughout The Day
The Acoustic Ensemble often sits at the heart of a wider day of music, following a classical ensemble for the ceremony and carrying the atmosphere through drinks, dinner and the early evening before a full band or DJ takes over.
With one team overseeing the music throughout your event, each part of the day can flow naturally into the next. Preferential rates are also available when multiple ensembles are booked together.
