Classical String Quartet
A Timeless Tradition
The Classical String Quartet brings together two violins, viola and cello in its purest form, entirely acoustic, with no amplification or produced soundtrack. Elegant, intimate and timeless, it is one of the most versatile ensembles we offer.
The repertoire spans the classical canon alongside contemporary music arranged for strings, from Ennio Morricone to modern favourites, film music, pop and jazz. For something more personal, our team can also create bespoke arrangements for the quartet.
Our quartet is made up of exceptional London musicians who also perform as part of the full Urban Soul Orchestra.
The Line-Up
The classical quartet is our signature string formation, bringing together two violins, viola and cello for a beautifully balanced acoustic sound.

Up to 3 × 45-minute sets. Smaller and larger string configurations are available on request, from a soloist up to a full string section.

The Occasions
A natural choice for wedding ceremonies, the Classical String Quartet can accompany every part of the occasion, from guest arrival and the walk down the aisle to the signing of the register and the recessional. It can then continue seamlessly into the drinks reception.
Beyond weddings, the quartet is equally at home at private dinners, corporate hospitality, gallery openings and special occasions. Fully acoustic, it can perform beautifully in spaces where amplification isn't required or appropriate, from historic buildings and churches to gardens and private residences.
The USO String Quartet has performed at the US Ambassador's Residence, Hampton Court Palace, Merchant Taylors' Hall, the Berlin Opera House and aboard the Silver Sturgeon on the Thames.

Music Throughout Your Event
This is where most events start. USO's best-selling booking is a classical quartet for guest arrival, the ceremony and the drinks reception, a full band for the main reception, and a DJ to close.
Because it is one team across the whole event, those moments are arranged as one continuous piece of music rather than three separate bookings and there is no minimum booking, with discounted rates when more than one ensemble is booked together.
